One of the things that I have been working on in the last while, is, rather than individually drawing and painting each piece as in my pendant necklaces, I am reproducing my characters and designs to be made into other items. One of these new items is charms made of shrink plastic. These fun, brightly colored pieces are durable and lightweight, and work well as necklaces, key chains, even zipper pulls! The great thing about reproducing my own art, is that it allows shoppers to purchase multiples of the exact same design; perfect for party favors or even bridesmaid gifts!
The other product is custom coffee mugs. I love these! I have given these as gifts; they can even be personalized through custom ordering. The one pictured with vines and ladybugs, was a custom order for a high school friend - her mom and mine were besties for a long time until my mom passed away 12 years ago. It was extra rewarding for me to create this design for this special lady at the request of her daughter! She was so thrilled when she received it!
Hello! Wow, I've been gone a long time - Whew, what a year! Between caring full time for several months for a lively 10 year old who needed to be driven back and forth to school 40 miles away every day - to our new family business, FASTFIRE Camera Strap, for which I am now a full time employee, life has been a blur!
Things have calmed down some now, so I've spent the first few weeks of the new year regrouping and reorganizing my art business and my studio. As far as my business goes, I am going to continue with Etsy, but I am venturing into more areas with my art; focusing more on drawing and painting and design, less on jewelry. Don't worry, I still have lots of goodies in stock, and there's always special requests!
Below is a cute Rooster I did with gel pens for an art challenge I participated in.
I've also begun to play around with surface pattern design - I'm a total newbie - but I'm hooked! I have a few designs in the works to add to my library! I'm hoping to incorporate one of my designs into my new studio decor! Here is a sample of it!
Well, it's been nice chatting with you today; I will catch you up on more of what I've been up to next time. I promise, it won't be another 10 months! Blessings!
I'm a wife, mother and artist - lover of all things creative! This is a place to share about art and life - past, present and future: growing up in the 60's and 70's, having (almost) finished raising kids, and of course, sharing my journey into the world of art!
